Banking partner David Boyd is joining from Australian firm Allens Arthur Robinson, while Michael Burdon is leaving to head Olswang's biosciences practice.London corporate/media firm Marriott Harrison has brought in litigation partner Franco Barone from US/UK firm Steptoe & Johnson.Former England rugby international Brian Moore is returning to practice as a partner at Memery Crystal.

Once a partner at now-defunct Edward Lewis, he has spent the past two years involved in commercial ventures with Sir Bob Geldof and Carphone Warehouse.Osborne Clarke's London office has added intellectual property litigator Theo Savvides as a partner from Allen & Overy.Among ten partnership promotions at top US firm Shearman & Sterling is Christopher Colbridge, a litigator in the London office.London-based Levenes has recruited Geoffrey Morris as a commercial and civil litigation partner from Brighton firm DMH, while promoting employment lawyer Nathan Donaldson to partner.Two sole principals have joined larger firms: Geoff Bryant joins the Banbury office of Shoosmiths as a private capital partner, while property lawyer Stephen Lansley has returned to Colchester firm Ellisons, where he trained, as a partner.Going into solo practice is Marty Burn, who was an assistant at Barlow Lyde & Gilbert's Oxford office and has now set up the Oxford Employment Law Practice.Leeds firm Lupton Fawcett now has 24 partners after bringing in Mark Appleyard and Robert Kelly from niche commerical property firm The Frith Partnership.Manchester firm Fox Brooks Marshall has made up corporate lawyer Sefton Collett to partner.Allen & Overy's Kong Kong office has swooped on CMS Cameron McKenna for David Kidd, who headed Camerons' corporate recovery and restructuring team.

Matthew Higdon has joined Charles Russell as a senior associate from Kingstreet Tours, where he was a director producing international tours for the likes of Robbie Williams and Sting, while Nora Mullally has left Harrison Curtis to join SJ Berwin as a senior lawyer.Michael Helmer has returned to City firm Field Fisher Waterhouse as an IT assistant after two years as head of legal affairs at Barclays' ShopSmart.com Internet shopping portal.In addition to new partners, London firm Levenes has brought in education lawyer Marian Shaughnessy from the Advisory Centre for Education.In Birmingham, Phil Storey has joined niche practice Bailey Wright & Co as an assistant and supervisor of the education department from Young & Lee.Browne Jacobson has added defendant personal injury associates Bridget Tatham from Chapman Everatt and Kevin Lawson from Berrymans Lace Mawer.Manchester firm James Chapman & Co has brought in personal injury solicitor James Dadge from Keoghs in Bolton, while Paul McGladdery has joined fellow Manchester firm Nexus from Addleshaw Booth & Co.

IN-HOUSEPaul Ferguson has been promoted to head of legal affairs at the Broadcasting Standards Commission, a post created in response to proposals to creat OFCOM, the planned single regulator for communications.Paul Matthews has been promoted to head of legal at ITV; he was previously head of legal at ONdigital, before its merger and rebranding with ITV.

Also Edwin Mayer has joined as company solicitor from Entranet.AutoLogic Holdings has named Colin Armstrong as general counsel and company secretary.

He was formerly company secretary and head of legal affairs at Northern Leisure.Former DLA solicitor Gillian Stone has launched an in-house team at drinks manufacturer Halewood International in Liverpool.Marcel Apfel, who was a sports and commercial assistant at Max Bitel Greene, has joined the Pentland Group - whose brands include Mitre, Speedo and Kickers - as a corporate counsel.Helena Peacock, legal director at publishers Penguin, has taken over as business affairs director at Warne and company secretary for the Rough Guides, both subsidiaries, following the departure of Cecily Engle, Penguin's first in-house lawyer, who gave up the legal director role when she went part-time two years ago.Karl Davies has left an in-house litigation role at Barclays to become chief operating officer of the City Disputes Panel.
