He joins from Ford Simey - recently demerged from Welsh firm Hugh James - where he was managing partner.

Ruth Davies has been made up to partner at Oldham-based personal injury specialists John Pickering & Partners, while John Pickering has retired from the role of senior partner.

On the international scene, Ashurst Morris Crisp appointed EU anti-trust specialist Ute Zinsmeister as a partner in its Brussels office.
