It was a quiet week for partnership changes, with the biggest move coming in Devon, where Tozers has recruited Simon Sanger-Anderson to be its business development partner.

He joins from Ford Simey - recently demerged from Welsh firm Hugh James - where he was managing partner.

Mr Sanger-Anderson specialises in hotel and leisure work.

in London, Baxendale Walker has promoted family expert Rob Gray from associate.

Leaving the City is commercial litigator Robert Johnson, who has swapped Simmons & Simmons to join Luton-based Taylor Walton as its 25th partner.

In Chelmsford, Wollastons has made up personal injury lawyer Nadina Edmondson as its 13th partner.

Ruth Davies has been made up to partner at Oldham-based personal injury specialists John Pickering & Partners, while John Pickering has retired from the role of senior partner.

He will continue to work as a consultant and is not being replaced.

On the international scene, Ashurst Morris Crisp appointed EU anti-trust specialist Ute Zinsmeister as a partner in its Brussels office.

He joins from German firm Wessing.

Hammond Suddards Edge has a new head of tax strategies in Berlin after recruiting Jens-Uwe Hinder from KPMG.

Assistants and associates

Paul Attwood - previously company solicitor at the Big Food Group (formerly known as Iceland Group) - has joined north-west firm DWF as a senior solicitor in its food industry group.

Manchester firm Pannone & Partners has expanded its construction team with three new assistants: Emma Lomas from Manches, John Eastham from Fieldings Porter and Claire Grainger from Hill Dickinson.

However, Hill Dickinson's Manchester office has gained two new assistants: insolvency and commercial expert Martin March and fraud specialist Ian Emery, both from Hammond Suddards Edge.

The Manchester office of Pinsent Curtis Biddle has boosted its banking practice with associate Joanne Robinson from City giant Allen & Overy.

Leaving Pinsent Curtis Biddle's Leeds office is commercial property lawyer Gareth Jones, who joins Yorkshire firm Denison Till as an associate.

Karen Wardley-Tipple, formerly a partner at Graham Pearce & Co, has joined Alsters as a senior solicitor to head its remortgage and conveyancing department in Coventry and Nuneaton.
