Plenty of activity in the City this week.

Helen Marshall, former head of forensic investigation in the enforcement division of the Financial Services Authority, is to join DLA as a partner in its financial regulatory group.

Insurance partner Hermes Marangos has left US firm Cozen O'Conner to join Clyde & Co, and boost the firm's Latin American team.

Assistants Kathleen Leslie and Andrew Tobin move with him.

Finance partner Graeme Carney has left SJ Berwin to join Hammonds.

Davies Arnold Cooper has made up four solicitors: Andrew Boulton and Lucinda Walsh (commercial property), and Ian Pease and Nicholas Taylor (construction and engineering).

In central London, Davenport Lyons has lured property partner Susan Haggard from Speechly Bircham.

In Sussex, Lewes-based Adams & Remers has two new partners.

Andrew Palik has left ASB Law to become head of litigation, while Alan Zeal has been promoted to partner in the firm's company/ commercial team.

Watford-based Matthew Arnold & Baldwin has hired Tim Brittain (commercial property) from City firm SJ Berwin and Moira Myers (corporate and commercial) joins the firm from Luton-based Taylor Walton, while Michael Delaney (employment) has been made up.

It now has 20 partners.

Giles Clifford, head of the private finance initiative and public private partnership team in the Oxford office of Manches has been promoted to partner.

Stratford-upon-Avon firm Lodders is now a 13-partner practice after promoting agricultural lawyer Penny Samworth and tax planning specialist Steve Brignull.

Two new partners for Leeds firm Nelson & Co: Angela Moores joins from Addleshaw Goddard as head of family, and David Pridmore has left Beachcroft Wansbroughs to become a commercial property partner.

Shipping specialist Rob Penrose has been promoted to managing partner at Andrew M Jackson in Hull.

His predecessor, John Hammersley, is returning to the corporate department.

In Tyne and Wear, immigration firm Halliday Reeves has promoted Joanne Pickering as its third partner.

In Manchester, construction specialist Michael Woolley has left Elliotts, which is merging with Ricksons, to join Hill Dickinson as a partner.

West country firm Bond Pearce has promoted eight new associates: in Plymouth, Julian Summerhayes (commercial litigation); in Exeter, Steve Hadley (corporate); in Bristol, Paul Stone (corporate) and Joanne Rumley (banking and insolvency); and in Southampton, William Ackerman (property), Catherine Parnell (employment), Emma McIntyre (property litigation) and Stephen Panton (insurance).

Dan Wake (personal injury) and Mike Smith (residential development) have qualified at Slough firm Owen White.

Watford-based Matthew Arnold & Baldwin has brought in Mark Glenister (finance and banking) from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.

In the City, Julian Hay joins the private client team of Moon Beever from Bircham Dyson Bell.

Surrey firm Shadbolt & Co has kept on its three newly qualifieds: Paul Henty and Iain Cathcart (corporate) and Anna Elshafei (construction).

Colchester-based Birkett Long has appointed three solicitors: Lindsay Jordan (corporate finance) and Hayley Bower (commercial litigation) have qualified with the firm, while Matthew Osborn (commercial property) has joined from Eversheds in the City.

Three newly qualifieds have been kept on at Ipswich firm Prettys: Rob Cress (shipping), Claire Neal (commercial litigation and employment) and Louise Pepper (insurance).

West Yorkshire firm Emsleys has appointed commercial property specialist Danny Richardson as senior solicitor.

He was previously senior property solicitor at construction company Shepherd Building Group.

Property and construction litigation assistant Ragan Bennett has been recruited by Last Cawthra Feather's Bradford office.

She was previously at Fox Hayes in Leeds.

Harrogate-based Berwins has brought in employment and litigation associate Claire Rolston from Kent-based Thackary Wood.

In Lancashire, commercial property assistant Malcolm Glynn has swapped Blackpool-based Atkinson Cave & Stuart for the Preston office of Ricksons.
