Partners

Starting in the City, the promotion round continues in full swing.

Norton Rose has promoted 12 associates to partner, bringing the total number worldwide to 221.

In London, the new partners are Richard Howley and Alexandra Tiptree (banking), John de St Croix and Daniel Wagerfield (real estate), Julian Stanier (corporate finance), and Paul Griffin (employment).

Nabarro Nathanson has appointed eight new partners, split evenly between its London and Sheffield offices.

In London, they are Caroline Maude and Barry Morris (both real estate), Clive Swillman (banking and corporate), and Paul McDermott (projects).

In Sheffield, the new partners are Sarah Meldrum and Rebecca Kitchingham (both real estate), Karen Andrews (projects), and Matthew Sibley (banking and corporate).

It now has 110 partners.

City firm Kingsley Napley has promoted Paul Harbour in its commercial property department to partner, taking the total to 35.

Media specialist Marcus Rutherford leaves City-based Kendall Freeman to join US/UK firm Reed Smith.

Nine new partners at Berwin Leighton Paisner, bringing the total to 138.

They are: Jim Garton, John Kelsey and Justine Oldale (all real estate), Sacha Pertwee and Neville Wright (both corporate tax), Simon Harper and Tim Simmonds (both business and technology services), Ben Lee (corporate finance) and Emma Howdle-Turner (banking and capital markets).

Fiona Wilson, formerly head of family law at south-east firm ASB Law, joins Vizards Wyeth as a partner with responsibility for building up the London and Dartford firm's family team.

National firm Weightmans has re-elected Ian Evans and Patrick Gaul as senior partner and managing partner respectively for three-year terms.

Two new partners for insurance specialist Robin Simon: Philip Steel joins from Beachcroft Wansbroughs to head the firm's Birmingham office, while Matthew Reynolds is promoted in the Leeds office.

In Nottingham, Nicholas Walsh becomes senior partner at Fletcher's, replacing Caroline Goulborn, who is taking up a public appointment.

Andrew Wesley becomes managing partner.

In Cheshire, Lynne Muscroft has been promoted to partner and head of the personal injury department at Slater Heelis Collier Little.

Overseas, mergers and acquisitions specialist Roberto Casati leaves City firm Allen & Overy for the Milan office of US firm Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton.

Associates/assistants

In London, Victoria-based Woodroffes has acquired Putney firm Conybeare & Co from sole principal Steven Conybeare, who joins as an associate heading up the company department.

Three new property assistants for south-east firm ASB law: Manjinder Nagra joins the Brighton office from Worthing-based Green Wright Chalton Annis, Elizabeth Ashun joins the Croydon office from north London firm Malik & Malik, and Nabiha Saleheen joins the Maidstone office from Brighton firm Griffith Smith.

Moving west, Cornish firm Hancock Caffin has promoted litigator Erika Dugdale to associate.

Commercial litigator Robert Mason, formerly at the Birmingham office of Merricks, has joined LHP Law in Redditch.

In Cheshire, Rifat Parveen joins Slater Heelis Collier Little as an assistant in the family department from Mace & Jones in Knutsford.

Personal injury and clinical negligence specialist Philip Mott QC has been appointed head of Outer Temple Chambers, following the decision by Christopher Wilson-Smith to stand down after three years.

Marjory Fields, a retired New York family court judge and acting justice of the supreme court of New York between 1999 and 2002, has joined London-based International Family Law Chambers as special counsel.

Barristers Anthony Gee QC and Paul Lambert have been appointed circuit judges, assigned to the northern and western circuits respectively.
