Solicitors behind a website aimed at gathering allegedly undersettled coal health compensation claims have begun running seminars for former coal miners with the backing of local MPs.

North-east firm Ingrams and sole practitioner Neil Hudgell, who together run undersettlement website claimagain.com, hosted a seminar for more than 250 former miners and miners’ family members in Worksop recently.

Attendees were advised to have their original government coal claims reviewed.

Bassetlaw MP John Mann, who has long campaigned on undersettlement, told the meeting that tens of thousands of miners and miners’ families across the UK had been badly advised by solicitors.

Ingrams partner Paul Stott said Ingrams and Hudgell are also working with MPs in other constituencies to arrange similar events.

Two more websites aimed at gathering potentially undersettled claims from former miners have also emerged, bringing the number of known undersettlement websites to four.

Minersrights.co.uk, run by Merseyside claims management company Gravitas Law, went live earlier this year. Text on the website reads: ‘There is a strong possibility that you may be owed compensation because your solicitor did not settle your Vibration White Finger case fully. In some cases clients could be owed over £10,000...’

Minerscompensation.org.uk, run by Cheshire claims management company The Entitlements Agency, also went online at the start of the year. Text on the website reads: ‘Your solicitor may have undersettled your claim by processing it too fast or not paying enough attention to detail…We can also get you further compensation for other health conditions you may have had as a direct result from working in the mines that were overlooked during your previous claim.’
