Digital dictation company SRC is offering a hosted digital workflow service for smaller firms which do not want their own infrastructure and operational support.

The service, which uses WinScribe technology, provides secure access to SRC's hosting centre.

Just like a dedicated WinScribe installation, dictation can be done remotely through hand-held microphones or recorders.

The files are sent securely to SRC's WinScribe server and are then routed to the appropriate secretary.

Lawyers wishing to save space can now make use of a 'virtual vault' for storing documents, provided by eView+.

The files can be accessed through any standard Web browser.

The documents are scanned or electronically copied and then loaded onto the eView+ Web site.

They can be accessed either on-line or off-line, with different price bands for each level.

Statustrax has launched a case management system aimed at cutting down the time spent updating clients on the progress of their cases.

Set-up costs 200 and there are no networking costs.

For those firms which do not yet have a Web presence, Lawsites.net has launched a dedicated Web site construction service.

The set-up fee is 99 plus VAT, with a monthly subscription of 69.95 plus VAT.

Private Word has customised the latest video-conferencing technology - originally designed for the US Defence Department - for lawyers.

The company says it offers a high degree of security and is designed to provide the benefits of face-to-face meetings without the need to leave the office.

The technology is Web-based and users can log in from any PC terminal.

Tascomi Farsight has created technology to help lighten the burden of compliance with information security standard BS7799, the Data Protection Act 1998, the Freedom of Information Act 2000, and the Turnbull corporate governance requirements.

Users need only input information once to produce a report on the level of compliance with the different regulations, and so cut out any duplication of work caused by overlapping legislation.

It works by analysing information about the company as it is fed into the application.
