Vogon International has released a new version of its disclosure software, which automates the process of searching for relevant text and information regardless of where and in what format it is stored. The software captures metadata for every file, enabling a timeline analysis to be produced showing information such as file creation dates, last access dates, details of authorship, and distribution. The latest version was developed by Vogon after working with investigators on high-profile cases such as the Dame Shirley Porter Westminster Council dispute and is intended to help organisations comply with financial practice and corporate governance regulation.
Software tools developer ISDD has launched OmniQ Legal, a free search and retrieval service for law firms that will allow them to search UK Acts of Parliament from 1989 to the present day. The technology enables users to drill down to reveal relevant results. Firms can search more than 1,000 Acts within the UK and Ireland. The search tool can also be used to differentiate between large contract documents in which more than 99% of the document consists of standard clauses similar to other contracts.
E-mail security provider Postini has launched Postini Auto-Encryption as a new feature of its e-mail intrusion prevention system Perimeter Manager Enterprise Edition 5.2. The company has implemented transport layer security (TLS), the encryption standard. Customers who choose TLS will be able to send and receive encrypted e-mail through the Postini service. According to the company, some 36% of law firms in the US use its services to secure their e-mail.
Planon System Solutions, the scanning hardware and software provider, has launched the DocuPen portable, full-page scanner. The tool - the size of a pen and weighing less than two ounces - allows lawyers to scan an A4 page of text and graphics in four seconds. Users can download documents directly onto a computer and print or send them as e-mail attachments. The DocuPen holds up to 100 pages in its memory.
