Law Society Council member representing the Black Solicitors Network

In May 2004, the Law Society Council agreed to designate a new non-constituency council seat as Black Solicitors Network.

Preliminary notice is hereby given, in accordance with by-law 56, that a ballot will be held for this seat, and nominations are invited.

Nominees for election must be members of the Law Society and must be members of the Black Solicitors Network.

Those nominating candidates must be similarly qualified.

The successful candidate will serve initially until the conclusion of the annual general meeting in 2005, when there will be an election for all the non-constituency council seats.

Preliminary notice is hereby given under by-law 56 that a casual vacancy exists for Constituency No 2 - The City of London.

This vacancy arises by the resignation of Michael Robert Mathews.

The successful candidate will serve the unexpired portion of Mr Mathews' term of office, until the conclusion of the AGM in 2006, and will be eligible for re-election thereafter.

Nominees for election must be members of the Law Society and have a registered address in the constituency or be a member of a local law society within the constituency.

The council has fixed 16 September 2004 as the election date for filling these vacancies.
