The Land Registration Act 2002

The Land Registration Act 2002 comes into effect on 13 October 2003.

A draft set of the rules to support the Act is now available at: legislation.landreg.gov.uk

A consultation paper on the content of those rules will be available at the end of August both through the site and in paper form from Jane Wadey at Land Registry Headquarters, Lincoln's Inn Fields, London WC2A 3PH or tel: 020 7917 8888, ext: 4335.

Council of Mortgage Lenders' Handbook, 2nd edition

The second edition of the Council of Mortgage Lenders' Handbook for England and Wales will come into force on 1 October 2002.

Solicitors instructed in accordance with the handbook from 1 October 2002 must refer to the second edition on the CML Web site at: www.cml.org.uk/handbook.

Those solicitors instructed in accordance with the handbook prior to 1 October 2002 must continue to use the current handbook until the transaction is complete.
