INTERVENTIONS

Michael John Read

On 26 February 2003, the professional regulation adjudication panel of the Office for the Supervision of Solicitors (OSS) resolved to intervene in the practice of Michael John Read, who formerly practised at 28 Arnold Mead, Corsham, Wiltshire SN13 0BL, under the firm name of MJ Read.

Charles Metherell of Bevan Ashford of 35 Colston Avenue, Bristol BS1 4TT, tel: 0117 9230 111, DX 7828 Bristol, has been appointed to act as the Society's agent and took possession of all MJ Read practice papers on 3 March 2003.

The grounds of intervention are that Mr Read has been indefinitely suspended from practice by the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal on 19 September 2002, and subsequently had not properly disposed of client files to the satisfaction of the Law Society.

John Carden

On 24 February 2003, the panel intervened in the practice of the above-named solicitor, who practised at Woodside Offices, Smithy Lane, Mottram St Andrew, near Macclesfield, Cheshire SK10 4QJ, under the firm name of Thomas Jones Son & Carden.

Paul Walton of Hill Dickinson Solicitors, Pearl Assurance House, 2 Derby Square, Liverpool L2 9XL, tel: 0151 236 5400, DX 14129 Liverpool 2, has been appointed to act as the Society's agent.

George Raymond Stephenson

On 26 February 2003, the panel intervened in the practice of the above-named solicitor, who practised at 35-37A High Street, Ruislip, Middlesex HA4 7AU, under the firm name of Stephensons.

Catherine Woolhouse of Osmond Gaunt & Rose of Winston House, 349 Regents Park Road, London N3 1DH, tel: 020 8349 0321, DX 57254 Finchley 2, has been appointed to act as the Society's agent.

Sewa Singh

On 23 January 2003, the panel resolved to intervened in the practice of the above-named solicitor, who practised at 15 Water Street, Rochdale, Lancashire OL16 1TL, under the firm name of Singh & Co.

Mark Lund of Turner Parkinson of Hollins Chamber, 64A Bridge Street, Manchester M3 3BA, tel: 0161 833 1212, DX 14373 Manchester 3, has been appointed to act as the Society's agent.

Kamlesh Jivan Bhalsod

On 10 March 2003, the panel resolved to intervene in the practice of Kamlesh Jivan Bhalsod, who formerly practised at Suite 38, 3-7 Temple Chambers, Temple Avenue, London EC4Y 0HP, under the firm name of Bhalsod & Co.

John Gould of Russell-Cooke of 2 Putney Hill, Putney, London SW15 6AB, has been appointed to act as the Society's agent and he took possession of all Bhalsod & Co practice papers on 11 March 2003.

Pursuant to the intervention, Mr Bhalsod's practising certificate has been suspended with immediate effect.

The Gazette has been asked to make it clear that the intervention (see above) and the recent order and decision against Michael John Read (see [2003] Gazette, 9 January, 30 and [2003] Gazette, 20 February, 41) is in no way associated with or applicable to Michael John Read of Berry & Read, 52A Grange Road, West Kirby, Wirral, Merseyside CH48 4EF.
