I fully agree with the views expressed by Laura Devine in her recent immigration law legal update column (see [2006] Gazette, 15 December, 18) with reference to the changes in the highly skilled migrant programme.


The element of surprise and lack of consultation by the Home Office in implementing these changes are to be deplored. But worse still is the points system linked to the age of the applicant. An applicant aged 32 or older scores nil points compared to an applicant aged 27 years or younger who scores 20 points. This may well fall foul of the age discrimination regulations.
