Out-dated training

Nigel Savage is correct - the two-year training contract can be safely dumped (see [2002] Gazette, 16 May, 24).

Why? Because the profession has become far more regulated and once a solicitor has done a legal practice course the training is better than he will receive in the two years' training.

The object of articles and training is now outdated.

The training contract is used by many firms to save money - in other words, it is seen as cheap labour.
