Panic attack
There was more than a hint of panic in a recent note sent to us by a PR agency on behalf of west country law firm Bevan Ashford.
It followed an earlier press release the agency sent in the aftermath of the Sir Alex Ferguson/David Beckham/flying football boot saga, entitled 'Golden Balls has some serious thinking to do - the legal options for David Beckham'.
The release, the PR bods assured us, was sent to journalists just as a starting point for discussion on the wider issue of violence in the workplace - and was not intended for publication with direct reference to either of its two central figures.
'Please be advised that the publication of any information directly referring to either parties could be construed as defamatory,' it went on, barely containing its anxiety.
There is no doubt an interesting background to all this, but somehow we think we are more likely to receiving a flying boot of our own than find out what it is.
