Park Nelson settles bout with boxing promoter Warren ; ;London law firm Park Nelson, which had a claim for negligence brought against it by boxing promoter Frank Warren, last week settled the case one week into a ten-day hearing. ;The case against the firm arose in July 1999 following a $12 million (8.5 million) payout by Mr Warren to US promoter Don King a year before. The payout ended the pairs unsuccessful joint venture. ;The claim concerned two joint venture agreements entered into by Mr Warren and Mr King in 1994 and 1995 to co-promote European boxers. ;Park Nelson was sued both for advice given at the time Mr Warren entered into the joint venture agreements, and for the way it handled matters when the case came to court in 1997. At first instance, Mr Justice Lightman described the joint venture agreements as badly drafted and replete with obscurities and inconsistencies. ;Last week, Mr Warren represented by Daren Allen, a partner at City firm DLA and Park Nelson settled on what they described as terms satisfactory to both parties. The terms are confidential. ;Sue Allen ; ; ;
