The Legal Aid Practitioners Group (LAPG) this week called on the government to publish its final research into the Public Defender Service (PDS). Director Richard Miller said solicitors had been told that the publication was 'imminent' for the last six months. He said: 'It is in the public interest that this report is published immediately so that we can all judge whether the PDS has managed to deliver the value for money and quality that the government demands from private practice lawyers.' Richard Collins, executive director for policy and planning at the Legal Services Commission, said publication has been delayed while the research team considered Lord Carter's interim findings. He said the draft report would be presented to the LSC's non-executive commissioners this month.
