Private equity company Permira has pledged £500,000 over three years to help a not-for-profit legal advice provider achieve 'business efficiencies and social gain'.

The donation to Law For All - which will be paid in three tranches - arose from Permira's involvement in the 'Breakthrough' initiative, which funds social enterprises.

Law For All director Ulla Barlow said the first two instalments were funding a quality programme and staff expansion. The third will help develop a model for integrated social welfare law services with Citizens Advice in Cambridgeshire.

'Permira's objective is to help us stand on our own two feet, not fund us indefinitely,' she said.
