Playing away

Believe it or not, there is a solicitor angle to the New Zealand v England battle for the title of 'Kings of Mediocrity' in international test match cricket.

Well, sort of.

Jeremy Henderson (pictured), head of the personal legal services division at Leeds law firm Lupton Fawcett, is also heading down under, as he has been named as manager of the Marylebone Cricket Club's tour of NZ, which set off last week.

In addition to managing the side, Mr Henderson will be slipping on his whites as he has been a player member of the MCC for nearly 20 years.

Indeed, in that time he has played around the world, strapping on the pads in Argentina, Australia, Corfu, Spain and Gibraltar.

Readers will recall the stir triggered by Lupton Fawcett when it recently adopted its illogical but widely noted 'squaring the circle' logo.

It remains to be seen whether Mr Henderson and his team can make an equal impression on the cricket grounds of New Zealand.
