A police officer has resigned after reportedly being caught apparently having sex with a solicitor in an interview room.

South Wales Police started an investigation this week after the male officer and a female lawyer were found in what was reported to be a ‘compromising position’ in the station at Cockett in Swansea.

The police said an officer based in its Western basic command unit, covering Swansea and Neath Port Talbot, has handed in his notice. Nobody involved has been named.

In a statement, the police said: ‘South Wales Police Professional Standards Department is investigating an allegation of misconduct against a police officer based in the force’s Western BCU.

‘The officer has submitted their resignation and a misconduct hearing will be held in due course.’

The solicitor’s code of conduct does not make specific reference to this type of behavior, but does require that solicitors act in the best interests of their client and are not impaired by a personal relationship.
