Preliminary notice of council election

Preliminary notice is hereby given under by-law 56 that a vacancy still exists in the office of a council member for the following constituency:

Constituency No.35 - Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland - this vacancy arose on the resignation of Kenneth Peter Byass following the conclusion of the 2002 annual general meeting.

As no candidate was nominated at the election held in August 2002, and as no candidate was nominated by the nominations committee established in the constituency under by-law 55, the election processes must therefore be re-started afresh.

The council has fixed 3 January 2003 as the election date for filling this vacancy.

The successful candidate will serve the unexpired portion of his/her predecessor's term of office, that is to say, until the conclusion of the annual general meeting in 2003, being eligible for re-election thereafter.
