Proper Use Of Funds

I wish to echo Warren Bradley's sentiments as to the amount of public funding given to those defending housing cases (see [2007] Gazette, 22 March, 18).

As a local authority housing practitioner, I have the strong feeling that funding certificates are given indiscriminately, and without much thought as to the merits of the defence.

I know others feel the same. Obviously defendants who do have a meritorious defence should be given appropriate financial support but more thought should to be given as to who gets what. Carter or no Carter, we all ought to be concerned as to the proper allocation of public money.
