Property worries
Brian Marson's comment article fails to reflect the reality of conveyancing practice (see [2002] Gazette, 28 February, 16).Given the widespread nature of land registration, investigation of title is usually the least of a conveyancer's worries.
Clients have different requirements and on the whole do not want the process of what is probably the biggest investment they will ever make dehumanised.
For years we in the profession, despite the huge value of negligence claims, have undervalued the work we do, so we cannot blame the other professions and the public for doing likewise.
As for saying that claims made against insurance companies could be settled in weeks, I wonder when Mr Marson last had a car accident? Dorothy Hurrell, solicitor, London
