I work solely in the field of public law children's cases, where the quest is to decide whether a parent can provide good enough or safe parenting for children - and if not, how the child should be protected from the known disadvantage of the care system.

All that Lord Carter showed me in his recent interview with you (see (2006) Gazette, 7 September, 24) was his arrogance and ignorance.

The consultation process following the review has been conducted over the summer holidays. Affected lawyers are scrambling around to get the information together that proves these assertions are incorrect within the tight timescale.

This is a desperate time, not just for lawyers and their businesses but the most vulnerable children in our society and their families.
