North-east outfit Muckle has reported its second consecutive year of double-digit profit growth.

The firm, headquartered in Newcastle and with a regional hub in Penrith, Cumbria, recorded pre-tax profit before members’ remuneration and profit shares of £3.84m in the year ended 31 March, a 15% rise on £3.34m in 2022.

Income rose 14% to £16.3m. The highest-earning partner received £334,816, up from £311,339 last time.

Muckle highlighted growth in its Banking (45%), Construction (44%) and Disputes (30%) teams.

Managing partner Jason Wainwright said: ‘Our business grew in size and capability in 2023, with an additional 15 employees, including some senior investments into some high-growth teams, such as Charities and Agriculture and Rural Estates, as well as our new hub in Cumbria.

‘We have also continued to invest into our home-grown talent with six promotions at the start of 2023 including three to partner in our Agriculture & Rural Estates, Real Estate Disputes and Sports teams respectively.

He added: ‘Looking forward, we are pleased to report that our momentum continues and our turnover is 8% up on Q1 on the same period in 2022.’
