Regions Offer Value

I have limited sympathy for the concerns of Jean Claude Najar and Nils Breidenstein in respect of legal fees (see [2007] Gazette, 1 March, 1). The UK is scattered with excellent lawyers, many of whom were trained and developed in large London or large regional practices and have first-class credentials, but who now work in the regions and/or in smaller firms. If in-house counsel and larger businesses were more willing to shop around and try smaller regional practices or individual experts, their legal spend could easily be slashed.
