National firm Russell Jones & Walker (RJW) is looking to form a stable of claims management companies following its successful acquisition of the Claims Direct brand.
The firm said the first stage of its expansion could mean a bid for National Accident Helpline (NAH).
Managing partner Neil Kinsella said the firm is 'seriously considering' buying up the company to bulk up its after-the-event insurance claims outfit. He added: 'Even if we don't get NAH then there are other companies out there that we would look to buy.'
The firm purchased the rights to the Claims Direct brand last year and found that it fitted well with its IT-centred fast-track system.
Paul Follett, managing director of NAH, said the company had no knowledge of a planned takeover until this week. He said: 'We are working with our accountants on our strategy.'
