Sabre-rattling lawyer stuffs Aussies

An old Obiter sporting solicitor favourite, the superbly named Niki Olympitis, has done what Nasser Hussain could only dream of by taking an England team to Australia and leaving the locals trailing in his wake.

Mr Olympitis captained the England fencing team to the recent Commonwealth fencing championships - which are sanctioned by the Commonwealth Games Federation but are not part of the Commonwealth Games, even though games' medals are handed out - and every member of the 30-strong team returned home with a medal of some colour.

Despite the overall trophy being described as the 'Ashes of fencing', England managed to win it, with Australia just behind.

Mr Olympitis, who won a silver medal in the 1994 event, was a non-playing captain on this occasion, but this caricature was drawn to celebrate his role in getting a rare one over the Aussies.

He is now retiring from the position, leaving him even more time to concentrate on being a litigation partner at London firm KSB Law.

If you come face to face with Mr Olympitis on the other side of a dispute, we would advise you to be en guard if you do not want his rapier skills to foil you and make you very unpe.
