While I understand the point made by AJ Ponting (see [2006] Gazette, 19 January, 12) regarding honours for solicitors, or the lack of them, the Law Society hardly sets an example - especially now that dentists and vets can prefix their names with 'Dr' - by declining to award any recognition to solicitors of their academic and professional achievement.
