Voting at the Law Society Council has become quite an event recently as members struggle with their voting machines, which double as microphones.

But last week's meeting saw an unprecedented 100% vote in favour of one matter, to everyone's amazement, for there is always someone against something, and also much discussion over whether it should be harder to bring a closure motion to end a debate.

Sadly, nobody brought a closure motion during the debate about closure motions, and it was decided that two-thirds of council would be needed to pass one, rather than a simple majority.

Later, the first closure motion under the new rules was brought, and the voting was 44 in favour and 22 against.

After a bit of head-scratching, the debate was declared closed.
