A solicitor has won a constructive dismissal claim against Bond Pearce.

Employment solicitor Julie Miller, who was aiming to becoming an associate in the national firm, claimed she was treated in a hostile way by her superiors in an appraisal after she returned from extended maternity leave in October 2004. She said the meeting had been 'humiliating, degrading and disrespectful'.

The tribunal agreed the mutual trust between employer and employee had been undermined by the meeting.

Ms Miller also brought claims relating to discrimination as a part-time worker, sex discrimination and victimisation, but these were dismissed.

A spokeswoman for Bond Pearce, which has yet to decide on whether to appeal the judgment, said: 'It is unfortunate that the relationship between ourselves and Mrs Miller broke down but as the judgment makes clear this was neither planned nor intended.'
