Something for the weekend?

The British traditionally compare unfavourably in the 'lurve' department next to our more adventurous cousins on the continent - the suave French, romantic Italians and liberated Swedes - so thankfully a Nottingham law firm has done its bit to bring some much needed Euro-influence into our bedroom gymnastics arena.

Fraser Brown successfully acted for German contraceptive importer Captain Condom in its wrangle over an information leaflet published by the Family Planning Advice Agency claiming that condoms bearing the British standard kitemark were of superior quality to those with the European stamp of approval.

The law states that the European mark, as borne by Captain Condom products, is the only required standard to ensure the rubber is of a quality that will not break under excessive and repetitive strain.

Pictured with the mountain of prophylactics are managing director of Captain Condom, Chris Bastin, and head of civil litigation at Fraser Brown, Jill Benbow.

We are assured firstly that this is not either of their private stash, and secondly that the traffic-light colours of the condoms are not to be taken literally and users are not meant to choose one depending on whether they are in a 'no go', 'rev up the engine' or 'clear to move' mood.
