The standard conditions of sale (SCS) has been updated and the fourth edition is scheduled to take effect on 13 October 2003.

The SCS is intended primarily for use in residential sales and in the sale of small business premises.

The new edition takes account of the changes made by the Land Registration Act 2002 and also anticipates the implementation of part 1 of the Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act 2002.
