Perhaps it is a sign of the economic climate that solicitors have a bit more time on their hands, but there has definitely been an upsurge in the number of top-notch sporting solicitors coming to Obiter's attention of late.

The latest is Jason Wellings (right), a claimant personal injury lawyer at Stafford firm ORJ, who made his debut for the US hockey team recently against Chile, but was on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline.

This was all the more galling given that he plays in goal, surely the natural position for a personal injury lawyer what with all the padding and protection that goes with the job.
