Once again the weather favoured the annual Legal Charities Garden Party, which took place on the north lawn at Lincoln's Inn, London on 15 June. More than 1,000 people attended and early indications are that the event was a financial success.

On behalf of the participating charities - the Solicitors Benevolent Association, the Institute of Barristers Clerks Benevolent Fund, the Barristers Benevolent Association, the Institute of Barristers Clerks Association, the United Law Clerks Society, the Institute of Legal Executives Benevolent Fund and LawCare - I thank our principal sponsor, the Royal Bank of Scotland, and indeed the Gazette, for their support.

On behalf of the organising committee, may we also express appreciation to all those who contributed to a successful evening, including those who attended and enjoyed the party.

James Furber, chairman, Legal Charities Garden Party Committee
