City firm Stephenson Harwood advised the Covent Garden Market Authority on a House of Lords judgement that will allow - for the first time - over-the-counter trading of meat and fish by trade buyers at New Covent Garden Market. The Corporation of London, which controls Smithfield and Billingsgate markets, had argued that the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs had exceeded his powers in allowing the extended service.
