Tale of the tape I am just wondering what is going on with the Legal Services Commission (LSC).
For the last eight to nine years my firm has used Crimewriters to transcribe police interviews.
There have never been any difficulties in obtaining the appropriate authority from either the Legal Aid Board nor in recent times the Legal Services Commission - until now.
Recently, an application was made to the Legal Services Commission for authority to incur the appropriate fee to have the police interview transcribed.
This has been returned by the Legal Services Commission requesting that other quotes should be provided as the fee being claimed was considered to be excessive.
We are not asking for a substantial sum and this is not a fee for a consultant or forensic expert but for someone just to transcribe our client's interview.
Would it not be more economical if the Legal Services Commission were simply to say would you please use this particular firm? At the end of the day I do not particularly care who transcribes the tapes as long as they are done.
