Taylor Wessing launches towards further expansion

City firm Taylor Joynson Garrett and top-ten German practice Wessing are to join forces to form a 181-partner pan-European network.

The newly merged firm - trading as Taylor Wessing - will be launched on 1 September and has set its sights on continued global expansion.

''We had been looking at our strategy and knew we had to expand in Europe,' said TJG managing partner Gary Moss, whose firm contributes 98 partners to the new practice.

'We heard that Wessing were considering similar action and phoned them to initiate proceedings,' he continued.

'Once this has bedded down we will take look to expand further - we already have locations in mind.'

Wessing managing partner Wolfgang Rehmann said the culture and strategy of the firms made them compatible, adding that they were also both very strong in IP and technology.

Wessings has offices in Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich.
