The face of God

This may come as a shock to some (not least her colleagues) but this is the face of God.

No really, it is.

Or rather, one of them.

Linda Manning, a solicitor at Winsford firm Moss & Haselhurst, will be playing God in next month's Chester Mystery Plays - ancient dramatisations of the bible stories performed on the cathedral green.

The director of this year's plays has decided to cast not one but four Gods with the aim of showing the different aspects of Almighty: commanding, considerate, joyful and maternal.

Ms Manning, who is also a lay preacher, is taking the role of the God who tests the faith of Abraham by demanding that he sacrifice his only son - kind of ironic for a family lawyer.
