North London law firm Marshall Levine & Associates has thrown open the doors to the Legal Cafe, a drop-in venue where clients can discuss their legal problems while sipping a mug of mocha or latte. Areas of law offered for flat-rate consultations include general commercial matters, planning applications, neighbour and building disputes, and direction in litigation matters. The cafe will suggest a referral where a particular problem is beyond its lawyers' remit. Name partner Marshall Levine said: 'Some clients find visiting a solicitor's office quite daunting and expect to be charged high fees. The cafe has a more relaxed feel, which should encourage people to call in who wouldn't normally consult a solicitor - it's a way for us to give something back to the community.' He added that the cafe was a drop-in centre for local lawyers, too, offering a comfortable and informal venue for networking and discussing the legal issues of the day.
