Quite where this page would be without law firm staff events we don't like to think, so hats off to Newcastle's Dickinson Dees for staging a talent contest - called, erm, 'Firm Academy' - at the Live Theatre on the city's quayside.
Several members of staff got into the swing, having a go at being The Beatles, Elton John, The Human League and the cast of 'Chicago', but the winner was second-year trainee Kevin Bell, performing Will Young's 'Light My Fire'.
However, most striking was cashier Neil Goldsmith (pictured left - see printed edition [2003] Gazette, 23 October, 12) who gave a somewhat raunchy performance as Robbie Williams.
Rumours that, as a result, shocked partners intend next year's talent contest to be entirely legally based, with performers giving dramatic recitations of their favourite statutes, have been firmly denied.
