I was awakened at 4am recently by a client being held at Battersea police station.
We had dealt with him during the day and he had been charged and was awaiting court in the morning.
His only complaint was that he could not sleep.
I murmured sympathy to him and lay awake wondering why I did this job.
It is certainly not for the money.
Would those who wish to reform the criminal justice defence system like a disturbed night's sleep for 24.20p?
