A group of ten solicitors from small and medium-sized law firms across England are in Chicago this week as part of a pilot scheme run by the Law Society and UK Trade & Investment (UKTI). UKTI, a government body, has contributed towards the cost of the group attending the conference and has sent representatives along with the delegation to help the solicitors in building international contacts, and also to learn themselves about the business development opportunities offered to smaller practices by the largest gathering of international lawyers in the world. If judged successful, it is hoped that a larger delegation will travel to next year's conference in Singapore. UKTI has identified legal services as one of its key sectors for the future.
