The Ministry of Justice may reintroduce fees for employment tribunal claims, permanent secretary Richard Heaton has confirmed. ‘I can see a scheme working that is both progressive and allows people out of paying fees where they can’t afford to,’ he told the Commons justice committee. 

March4Women sponsor call

CARE International is seeking sponsors for March4Women 2019, the flagship International Women’s Day event. The Law Society is supporting the central London march, which will mark 100 years since the Sex Disqualification (Removal) Act paved the way for women to practise law.

Price publication rules loom

New regulations requiring publication of price and service information will come into effect on 6 December, the Solicitors Regulation Authority has reminded solicitors. From that date firms can also download and begin using the new SRA digital badge.

Property disputes plan

The Civil Justice Council has recommended the deployment of judges to sit concurrently in courts and tribunals, in an effort to improve access to justice in property disputes and reduce confusion.

Passmore leaving SRA
