The Employment Tribunal Service (ETS) is to allow solicitors to use their in-house software to submit tribunal forms to the service's Web site, following lobbying by the Law Society and others.

In a letter to Chancery Lane last month, ETS chief executive Jeanne Spinks confirmed that users will be able to send the data required electronically. It will be converted and entered into a prescribed format via the Web site and submitted to the relevant tribunal office.

'This will be especially useful for legal firms who wish to be able to link the schema with their in-house systems,' she said.

Law Society President Kevin Martin welcomed the move. 'The Society is keen to promote the development of on-line government communications where the relevant government agency shows a willingness to listen to the views of practitioners,' he said.
