Tributes have been paid this week following the death of Sally Clark, the solicitor who was wrongly jailed for the murder of her two sons. A statement released on the family's behalf described Ms Clark (pictured at a legal event in 2003 with her husband Stephen, left, family solicitor John Batt (standing) and Mike Mackey of Burton Copeland in Manchester, who helped advise on her successful appeal) as a 'loving and talented wife, mother, daughter and friend' who would be greatly missed. 'Sadly, she never fully recovered from the effects of this appalling miscarriage of justice,' it added. Mr Mackey said she was 'a gentle spirit'. He added: 'Even when the appeal was successful, she was restrained, thoughtful - [this news] is very, very sad.'
