A private equity-backed consolidator with designs on nationwide expansion has added two firms to its roster.
The Orwins Group, backed by Scottish PE outfit Aliter Capital, today announced the acquisitions of Yorkshire firm Milners and central London boutique firm Roe Lawyers.
Both will adopt the Orwins name following full integration and will take the group to 250 staff with combined revenues of £34m. It has been confirmed that the acquisitions will not result in any redundancies, with Orwins keen to stress the ‘cultural fit’ of firms being brought into the fold.
Milners is a full-service firm founded in 1897 and now with seven partners and 41 staff dotted around four offices. The current partners are remaining with the firm and will become shareholders in Orwins.

Simon Bass, managing partner with Milners, said: ‘We take great pride in our swift, straightforward approach to providing our clients with professional, flexible and affordable legal advice, with no time-wasting or red tape.
‘In Orwins, we believe we have found a like-minded partner, and we look forward with real excitement to the opportunities created for our team and our clients by this alliance. Joining Orwins will take the business to the next level.’

Dov Black, chief executive of Orwins, added: ‘Over many years, Milners has earned a strong and established reputation in the Yorkshire community. Alongside this, we were particularly impressed by Milners’ personable and flexible approach to client relationships which closely reflects the way we work at Orwins. That shared outlook and strong cultural alignment give us great confidence in what we can achieve together.'
Roe Lawyers was founded in 2015 by Stephanie Roe and works with individuals and businesses providing specialist criminal, white collar, extradition and regulatory law services. Following the acquisition, Roe will become an Orwins shareholder.
Aliter Capital first invested in Manchester-based BBS Law in October 2024 and then Carter Bond in August 2025. The firm rebranded as Orwins in May 2026 following its investment into Clarkslegal, with investment in Clarke Mairs following in July 2026. The group now has offices in London, Manchester, Reading, Newcastle upon Tyne, Leeds, Harrogate, Malton and Darlington.
