Applications are invited for two geographical (City of London and east midlands) places on the Law Society's Council membership committee.

The committee advises the main Law Society Council on the designation of non-constituency council seats whenever a vacancy arises in such a seat.

It also keeps the constituency boundaries for council elections under review and advises generally on the size and representative nature of the council.

The majority of the members are not council members.

The committee is made up of a geographical component and a non-geographical component consisting of representatives from a range of interest groups and categories of solicitors.

Any member of the Law Society practising or employed in the City of London or the East Midlands is eligible to be appointed to the place on the committee representing that area.

The time commitment involved is around three or four half-day meetings a year (it is impossible to be more precise than this).

The Society wishes to encourage applications from all eligible solicitors irrespective of gender, race, colour, age, sexual orientation or disability and appointments will be based on merit, following an open and clear selection process.
