A barrister representing a prominent Muslim figure in Britain has criticised a tribunal seeking his extradition to Bangladesh on war crimes charges.

Prosecutors at the International Crimes Tribunal say they have enough evidence to charge Chowdhury Mueen-Uddin, director of Muslim Spiritual Care Provision in the NHS, with 18 murders during the 1971 war of liberation (above). Mueen-Uddin has denied participating in any criminal conduct. Toby Cadman of 9 Bedford Row told the Gazette that the tribunal was politically motivated: ‘It is not one of the institutions I would call a justice institution.’
