Brighton-headquartered Wynne Baxter has bought a tailored practice management system from Videss because of its central database and focus on document management, debt recovery and probate functions.

The 17-partner firm will deploy the system across four offices in East Sussex and Surrey. It is also nearing completion on the implementation of a conveyancing case management package.


Also in Brighton, ACT Law has adopted DPS Software's Cashier system.


Slough firm Barrett & Thomson has become one of the first practices to adopt Axxia's business case management technology product, Vision Lite, which includes facilities such as logging chargeable time, billing and disbursements, and debtors.


Birmingham firm Cromwell has also opted for Axxia's package, citing its 'end-to-end solution'.


Three firms have opted for Osprey.TM, the practice and case management package from Pracctice - Buckinghamshire criminal specialist law firm Hine & Associates, Nottingham's Thomas and Oxfordshire-based Hodsons have all decided on the Web-based system.


City firm Speechly Bircham has installed a new costs recovery system, nQPrint, run by real estate systems specialist Calvis.


London and south-east firm Penningtons has chosen BigHand for its digital dictation system; some 400 staff situated in multiple sites will now use the technology in a bid to promote cross-departmental co-operation. Secretaries within a particular department will be able to provide support to any fee-earner - wherever they are located - in the event of absences, holidays or increased workloads.


In the past two years, Penningtons has installed or is in the process of implementing the Elite Apex client relationship management system, Aim's Teamflow and Interwoven as part of a strategy to unify its network of offices in London, Godalming, Newbury, and Basingstoke.


DWF has also extended the use of BigHand's digital dictation system to 400 users in its offices in Manchester, Liverpool and Warrington.


West midlands firm Sydney Mitchell has rolled out nFlow's digital dictation system to 75 users across its offices in Shirley, Sheldon and Birmingham.


Plymouth-based Nash & Co has meanwhile gone for another digital dictation system, Digiscribe XL from Crescendo Systems.


London firm Seddons has chosen hSo's voice over Internet protocol (VOIP) product in replacement of its ISDN system, and has already reported a 24% saving on calls costs, particularly in relation to calls to its Prague office.


City firm Berwin Leighton Paisner has signed up to the PISCES Data Centre, which enables communication between disparate databases.


City firm Denton Wilde Sapte has appointed Configuresoft to design a new security system, based on its SUM technology.
