Withy King crowned top business after commercial success

A Swindon firm has been named Wiltshire business of the year following a 1 million increase in turnover in 2002 - and has put the secret of its success down to taking a more commercial approach to its work.

Withy King clinched the award - sponsored by Definitive Consulting and Newsquest - after it developed its conveyancing arm, Complete, and its wealth management division, Accrue Investment Management, last year.

It also merged with Swindon and Marlborough firm Quiney Jagger in June 2002 to increase its regional presence and strengthen its private client base.

The 23-partner firm was up against Mecserflex, a supplier of appliance controls solutions, and marketing company Infinite.

Withy King's managing partner, Martin Powell, said: 'I am delighted that we have been recognised for our commitment to ensuring the very best delivery of quality legal, financial and stockbroking services.

Focusing ourselves as a professional services business - rather than a firm of solicitors - has been one of the key factors in our success.'
