YSG unveils training site
The Young Solicitors Group (YSG) has launched an on-line training site, CPD-Direct, offering cut-price continuing professional development to members and other legal professionals.
Working with Web-based legal training company Semple Piggot Rochez, the YSG is offering one-hour courses for 18, consisting of a sound file of around 30-60 minutes, a briefing paper on the law in PDF format, and a multiple-choice exercise.
There are currently 73 courses available, and the number is rising.
A licence for unlimited use of all of the courses costs 950 a year for firms, and 300 for sole practitioners and barristers.
A wide range of CD-roms, and even an on-line masters degree in law (an LL.M accredited by the University of London), are also available.
YSG honorary secretary Adrian Barham said: 'The YSG has long been calling for course providers to make their pricing more affordable to young practitioners.'
A proportion of the revenue from each course purchased will go to the YSG to support its pastoral and other activities.
